Analysis of a photon assisted field emission device

چکیده
A field emitter array held at the threshold of emission by a dc gate potential from which current pulses are triggered by the application of a laser pulse on the backside of the semiconductor may produce electron bunches ~‘‘density modulation’’! at gigahertz frequencies. We develop an analytical model of such optically controlled emission from a silicon tip using a modified Wentzel– Kramers–Brillouin and Airy function approach to solving Schrödinger’s equation. Band bending and an approximation to the exchange-correlation effects on the image charge potential are included for an array of hyperbolic emitters with a distribution in tip radii and work function. For a simple relationship between the incident photon flux and the resultant electron density at the emission site, an estimation of the tunneling current is made. An example of the operation and design of such a photon-assisted field emission device is given. © 2000 American Institute of Physics. @S0003-6951~00!00730-0#

Pulsed DC- Plasma Assisted Chemical Vapor Deposition of α-rich Nanostructured Tantalum Film: Synthesis and Characterization
This paper is an attempt to synthesize nanostructured tantalum films on medical grade AISI 316L stainless steel (SS) using pulsed DC plasma assisted chemical vapor deposition (PACVD). The impact of duty cycle (17-33%) and total pressure (3-10 torr) were studied using field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), grazing incidence x-ray diffraction (GIXRD), nuclear reaction analysis (NRA)...
متن کاملQuality Assurance of LINAC by Analyzing the Profile of 6-MV and 10-MV Photon Beams Using Star Track Device
Introduction: According to the American Society of Radiation Oncology, all patients receive radiation therapy during their illness, where radiation is delivered by the medical linear accelerator (Linac). The aim of this study was to evaluate the quality assurance (QA) of the Linac in analyzing the used dose profile in the treatment of cancer tumors. Materi...
متن کامل2D Porous ZnO Nanosheets: One Pot Synthesis with Low Turn-on Field
Low turn-on field of 2.3 V/µm was found for the emission current density of 10 µA/cm2 from 2D porous ZnO nanosheets. High current density of 0.76 mA/cm2 was drawn at an applied field of 4.1 V/µm. The observed low turn-on field of porous ZnO nanosheets has been found to be superior to the other ZnO nanostructures reported in the literature. Also, the emission current stability over a period of 3...
متن کاملCalculation the phantom scatter factor for the linear accelerators device
Introduction: In the last few decades, a lot of monte carlo codes have been introduced for medical applications. this is important because through simulation, we are fully independent of the spectral scattering factor that we are not able measure in real terms. The effect of the radiation energy, the dimension of the radiation field, the sensitive volume of the ion chamber on t...
متن کاملDetection of Ultraweak Photon Emission (UPE) from Cells as a Tool for Pathological Studies
Objective: It is well-known that all living cells emit ultra-weak photon emission (UPE), which is due to byproducts of chemical reactions in cell metabolisms. It has been shown that Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) in the cells enhances the UPE intensity. The magnitude of such UPE is extremely weak (i.e. a few to 103 photons/ (sec.cm2)), and the detection of such ultra-weak signals is hardly possi...
